Common Error Messages in Outlook Express

Error 0x800ccc0d

It displays the error messages like ‘Can’t find Host’ or ‘Cannot Locate Server’. This generally gets displayed-

a)      If you have enabled new Newsgroups option but have no news account created. To rectify the issue select ‘Options’ from ‘Tools’. Select ‘General tab’ and uncheck the option for new newsgroup.

b)      Somebody else may be using your account or downloading something.

c)      Something may be wrong with the account.

b)      The user is already logged in to any other system. Shut down all connections, wait for some time and retry.

c)      It is also possible that someone is already using your account.

Error 0x800CCC05

It displays the error message ‘Not connected to server’. To rectify the issue do the following-

a)      If web pages are displayed, the error is with the entered server account details.

b)      It may be due to server breakdown.

c)      If no web pages are displayed, close and restart it.

d)      Try again after system restart.

e)      If problem is not sorted out, go to Network from Control Panel and make sure that the DNS numbers are correct. Also uninstall and reinstall the TCP/IP connection.

Error 0x800CCC19

It denotes ‘Timeout’ error. You can correct it in the following way-

a)      It may occur due to corrupt ‘pop3uidl’ file. Close all programs and Internet connection. Find to delete ‘pop3uidl’ file, restart the system and retry.

b)      It may be due to large file or corrupted file attachment present on the server, and mails with missing headers.

Error 0x800CCC18

It displays the error message ‘Logon attempt failed’. It may be due to various reasons-

a)      Ensure that the account details you entered are correct from all aspects. It may be a case sensitive issue too. Quit Outlook, and reboot the system and try to connect again.

b)      Confirm that the account is still active from your ISP.

c)      Login with a different identity and check if the problem is resolved.
